Travis Browne releases first statement on social media following loss to Derrick Lewis

Travis Browne blasts Derrick Lewis

UFC heavyweight Travis Browne has struggled to get his hand raised in his last few competitions, now on a three-fight losing skid, which is a first for the 34-year-old Hawaiian. Prior to his fight with Derrick Lewis that took place over the weekend at UFC Fight Night 105, Browne was looking to rebound after facing back-to-back losses for the first time in his professional mixed martial arts career but was unable to overcome some heavy shots delivered by “The Black Beast” in the second round of their fight.

Following the loss to Lewis, Browne took to social media where he gave a heartfelt thanks to his support team.

Browne said, “You win and you lose. Thank you family, friends and fans for the support. I’m ok, physically just some bumps and bruises. Mostly just disappointed in the outcome of the fight. I’ll be back!”

Going into the bout against Lewis, Browne was ranked #9 in the UFC heavyweight rankings with Lewis ranked #8. We will see how the rankings will shake out once the UFC releases their official update.

It has been a somber outcome for both Browne and his girlfriend Ronda Rousey in their last performances. Rousey lost for the second time in her professional mixed martial arts career back in December when she took on current UFC women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes. There has been no official word on if Rousey will retire or look to compete in the Octagon again in the future. Browne, on the other hand, sounds motivated about competing again and generally in good spirits from his message following his loss. It’s likely we will see Browne return to action sooner than later.
