Robbie Lawler has pulled out of his UFC 205 matchup with Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone just three days after the fight was announced, according to TMZ.
Lawler says he is not injured but wants more time to recover following a brutal knockout loss in late July. The UFC is currently looking for a new opponent for ‘Cowboy’.
Lawler was last in action at UFC 201, when he lost the welterweight title to Tyron Woodley by first round knockout. Prior to that, he was on a tear of the UFC’s welterweight division, defending his title twice in ‘Fight of the Year’ performances.
Cerrone is currently undefeated after moving to 170 pounds, and is riding a three fight win streak, most recently becoming the first man to knock out Rick ‘Horror’ Story at UFC 202 in August.
UFC 205 will take place on November 12 and will be the first time the Octagon comes to historic Madison Square Garden after New York legislators passed a bill to legalize MMA in the Empire State last year.
