Former UFC lightweight champion Rafael Dos Anjos will be locking horns with surging contender Tony Ferguson on November 5 in Mexico City. And while this isn’t the fight “RDA” was initially hoping for, it is one he seems fairly happy with.
“I asked for the rematch [with Alvarez], but I didn’t think they’d give it to me, so I needed to fight somebody else. So I thought, who should I fight? Tony’s a guy with eight wins straight, and Khabib is begging for the belt which I don’t think he deserves.” dos Anjos told Ariel Helwani on today’s episode of The MMA Hour.
“Khabib is in a better position in the rankings but I think Tony is ahead of him because he’s been active and has eight wins straight,” Dos Anjos continued.
Yes, despite the emphatic nature of his loss to Alvarez, Dos Anjos seems hell-bent on reclaiming the title that was once his. Of course, his doing so will depend on the outcome of his fight with Tony Ferguson this November. How do you think the fight will go? Let us know in the comments!
