Thursday night in Las Vegas, yet another UFC title changed hands as Eddie Alvarez defeated Rafael dos Anjos via 1st round TKO. The win was an impressive one for Alvarez, who managed to get the win without sustaining any major damage.
Following the fight, dos Anjos spoke to MMAJunkie to discuss the fight, and his desire for a rematch with Alvarez rather than have a rematch with Khabib Nurmagomedov:
“I’m going to give all the credit to Eddie. He did a great job. I was with my hands up when I got caught. That’s the fight game.”
“Of my last 11 fights, I won 10, and I would really like the rematch (with Alvarez),” dos Anjos said. “It’s something I’m looking for. Khabib hasn’t fought for two-and-a-half years; it’s hard to speak about a guy who hasn’t fought for a while. I’ve been active.”
Nurmagomedov made his successful UFC return earlier this year at UFC on FOX 19 when he defeated Darrell Horcher via TKO in the 2nd round. Since then ‘The Eagle’ has been on a hiatus in observance of Ramadan.
