Miesha Tate Demonstrates Heroism Outside the Cage

Miesha Tate

It’s no secret that Miesha Tate is one hell of a fighter. She has, after all, won titles in both Strikeforce and the UFC. Yet Tate is also one of the sport’s kindest competitors–something she reminded the world of this weekend when she aided some struggling strangers while out on a hike in Nevada’s Mary Jane Falls.

During her trek, Tate came across a mother who was struggling to carry her injured daughter back down the mountain. As Tate explained in a Sunday night post to her Facebook page, she then carried the girl down the mountain for the mother, keeping her spirits up with conversation as she did.

Unsurprisingly, the girl’s parents were extremely appreciative of Tate’s efforts. The girl’s father took to Twitter to thank the former women’s bantamweight champ once his daughter had been patched up at the hospital. You can see that post below:

Such a crazy labor day weekend for our family but ended in such an amazing and beautiful way. My poor Kai broke her arm at the top of the Mary Jane Falls hike at Mt Charleston. So @mommapook and I basically had to carry her down miles ahead. To our rescue and assistance came the amazing @mieshatate the UFC fighter. She offered to help us carry her down the mountain. Such an amazing and humble person to have met. Our family cant thank you enough for all the help. You saved us easily hours of hiking and helped us get her to the hospital sooner. Thank you again 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼 #mieshatate

In a sport that is based largely on violent knockouts and trash talk, we need all the positive role models we can get. Miesha Tate is one such role model, and she continues to represent the sport well.

When we last saw Tate, she lost the UFC women’s bantamweight title to Amanda Nunes, succumbing to a first-round TKO. There’s no word on her comeback fight as of yet, but here’s hoping it’s soon.

Who do you want to see the heroic Miesha Tate fight next? Sound off, PENN nation!
