Following her UFC 205 unanimous decision loss to Raquel Pennington at tonight’s UFC 205 event in New York, former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate announced her retirement from the sport of mixed martial arts.
Tate, who had won the UFC women’s bantamweight champion at UFC 196 this past March by submitting Holly Holm, was dominated by Pennington throughout the fight, particularly in the stand-up.
The setback marked her second in a row, as Tate had previously lost her title to Amanda Nunes in the main event of UFC 200.
Tate is nothing short of an Icon in women’s mixed martial arts.
She finished her remarkable career with an 18-7 record and won both the Strikeforce and UFC women’s bantamweight titles during her career.
