Bellator lightweight champion Michael Chandler (15-3 MMA) is very familiar with current UFC lightweight title holder Eddie Alvarez.
Alvarez and Chandler engaged in two epic wars while fighting under the Bellator banner, with Chandler submitting Alvarez in the pairs first encounter, and Eddie being awarded a judges split-decision in their second lightweight title affair.
Chandler recently weighed in on a potential fight between Eddie Alvarez and current UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor and had this to say about the possible matchup:
“I think Eddie beats Conor 9 times out of 10. You know you can’t ever count Conor out man. What I will say is that I had to eat my words a little bit. I thought Conor was going to quit on himself in that second and third round when he was hitting that wall. He ended up fighting a pretty good fight in those fourth and fifth rounds. But I think man.. Eddie’s a scrapper. Eddie is a competitor. The guy does not have a quit in him. He does not lose stamina. He keeps his foot on the gas the entire 25 minutes. So, you know he’s battle tested and he’s been in the game longer. And he is confident right now man. He just beat Dos Anjos quick. He starched him in the first-round. So he’s confident and I think he’s the best he’s ever been. I look for Eddie to win that fight. I see Eddie winning that fight. I’m excited for him to get that fight. I think he deserves a red panty night. You know that guys been in the game for a long time and he’s made it very clear that he’s fighting to put food and the table for his wife and kids. So I’m glad he gets that red panty night. I hope he gets it.”
