Last week, MMAFighting reported that the UFC is plotting a return to the MMA mecca of Dublin, Ireland on May 27. Early on Monday morning, SBG head coach John Kavanagh ran a poll on Twitter, asking fans how they’d feel about a potential Dublin main event pitting his student Gunnar Nelson against surging British contender Darren Till.

This poll, which allowed fans to choose between “excited” and “very excited” was answered almost 30,000 times. Needless to say, there seems to be some definite interest in a Gunnar Nelson vs. Darren Till UFC Dublin headliner. In a subsequent Tweet, Kavanagh assured that the almost 30,000 poll voters who are either “excited” or “very excited” about this potential fight are going to wind up quite happy.

While Kavanagh has been known to play with the MMA community on Twitter in the past, he certainly seems to be suggesting UFC Dublin will be topped by a Nelson vs. Till main scrap.

If this is indeed the case, it’ll mark Nelson’s opportunity to rebound from a tough, knockout loss to Argentine knockout artist Santiago Ponzinibbio. This loss was preceded by impressive stoppage wins over Alan Jouban and Albert Tumenov.

Till, on the other hand, will seek to build on the momentum of a crushing knockout of Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone. The Brit is unbeaten in the UFC, having also trumped Wendell de Oliveira, Jessin Ayari, and Bojan Veličković since joining the promotion. He did, however, battle Nicolas Dalby to a draw in 2015.
