UFC 205, which will go down from New York’s Madison Square Garden on November 12, appears to have grown by one massive fight: a strawweight title bout between reigning champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk (12-0) and streaking challenger Karolina Kowalkiewicz (10-0), both of whom hail from Poland.
This news comes from Dizz (@TalkMMA) and James Lynch (@LynchOnSports) on Twitter. It lines up perfectly with Jedrzejczyk’s recent announcement that she has signed the agreement for her next bout.

Undefeated as a professional mixed martial artist, Jedrzejczyk won the UFC strawweight title back in March of 2015, when she trashed former champion Carla Esparza with a savage salvo of punches against the cage for a second round, standing TKO. Since then, the striking specialist has made three successful defenses of her title, first pummeling Jessica Penne to a pulp, then winning hard-fought decisions over Canada’s Valerie Letourneau, and Brazilian rival Claudia Gadelha.
Kowalkiewicz, who is also undefeated, entered the UFC in late 2015, and has looked fantastic in her first three bouts with the organization. Her first UFC bout saw her rout Canada’s Randa Markos. Her second saw her score a decision over a game Heather Jo Clarke. Her third and most recent, finally, was the biggest win of her career: a split win over highly-hyped contender “Thug” Rose Namajunas.
This newly added bout becomes the second title fight on UFC 205’s bill, alongside a welterweight title showdown between champion Tyron Woodley and challenger Stephen Thompson. The card’s other highlights include a welterweight scrap between Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and Kelvin Gastelum, and a featherweight showdown between Frankie Edgar and Jeremy Stephens.
UFC President Dana White is expected to release the card’s full lineup on Tuesday.
Who do you think will emerge victorious when Jedrzejczyk and Kowalkiewicz square off at UFC 205 in New York? Sound off, PENN nation!
