It looks like Frankie Edgar wants to get back in the Octagon quick and get this UFC 222 loss out of his head. Although, the match-up may cause you to lose your own. Edgar and Cub Swanson are in the works to fight at UFC Atlantic City according to Brett Okamoto of ESPN, which no doubt will be a fire fight of epic proportions. The fight is only half of the newsflash, the other part being that this means Cub Swanson will have signed back with the UFC after testing out free agency.

This news comes riding the heels of Frankie Edgar’s first ever finish in his career at the hands of rising contender Brian Ortega. If this fight ends up getting booked, it will only be 49 days after the devastating knockout. However, this is only his first KO in his entire career, although he has 13-years worth of tread on the tires. That type of activity is bound to catch up with even the toughest of fighters.
Other than the quick jump back to competititon for Edgar, the fight makes all the sense in the world. Cub Swanson wants to finally get his shot at the UFC featherweight title and both he and Edgar’s last losses are to Brian Ortega. Whoever wins between this potential fight could slide right into the number one contender spot to fight whoever wins between Max Holloway and Ortega.
