Amanda Nunes reflects on victory over Cris Cyborg

Last Saturday night, in the co-main event of UFC 232, UFC women’s bantamweight queen Amanda Nunes did the unthinkable, handing long-time featherweight champ Cris Cyborg her first loss in well over a decade with a thudding, first-round knockout.

With this jaw-dropping victory, Amanda Nunes became the first female UFC fighter to hold titles in two divisions concurrently. She also became one of just three fighters ever to accomplish this feet, joining Conor McGregor and Daniel Cormier in that prestigious chapter of the MMA history book.

Speaking on Twitter on New Years Eve, the new two-division champion Amanda Nunes reflected on this incredible victory, and thanked all those who made it possible for her — even her vanquished foe Cris Cyborg.

“There are no words to describe this moment,” Amanda Nunes wrote. “Thank you to everyone that has believed in me since day one. Thank you to Cris for sharing the octagon with me, she is a true legend. Thank you to my family, my fiancé, coaches, training partners ,friends and of course Dana White.”

With this thrilling victory over Cris Cyborg, Amanda Nunes is now 17-4 overall, and is widely regarded as the greatest female fighter to compete in mixed martial arts.
