“Just waiting on him,” Cerrone said in an Instagram post that featured images of himself and Conor McGregor.
While this fight is far from official at this stage, the online sportsbook Bovada.lv has already released early odds for it. The site has identified Conor McGregor a a slight favorite at -185, meaning a successful $185 bet on him would earn you $100. Cowboy, meanwhile, has been pegged as a +150 underdog, meaning a successful $100 bet on him would earn you $150.
Conor McGregor last fought on October 6, when he was submitted by UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov in the main event of UFC 229. His next most recent contest occurred in the boxing ring, where he was bested by undefeated legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the 10th round. In his next most recent outing, he knocked out Eddie Alvarez to win the UFC lightweight title. Because he still held the UFC featherweight title at the time, this made him the first fighter in the promotion’s history to wear titles in two divisions concurrently. He’s 21-4 overall.
Cowboy, meanwhile, last fought this past weekend, when he authored a beautiful, first-round submission of the dangerous ‘Platinum’ Mike Perry. With this victory, he rebounded from a unanimous decision loss to British contender Leon Edwards. This loss was preceded by an impressive first-round stoppage of Yancy Medeiros. He’s 34-11 overall.
