Donald Cerrone reacts following UFC 246

Donald Cerrone, Conor McGregor

A welterweight bout featuring former lightweight standouts Donald Cerrone and Conor McGregor headlined tonight’s UFC 246 event in Las Vegas.

Donald Cerrone entered UFC 246 looking to rebound, this after suffering back-to-back TKO losses to Justin Gaethje and Tony Ferguson in his most recent efforts.

Prior to the skid, ‘Cowboy’ was riding a three-fight win streak, which included victories over Mike Perry, Alexander Hernandez and Al Iaquinta.

Meanwhile, Conor McGregor was returning to the cage for the first time since UFC 229 in October of 2018, where he had suffered a fourth round submission loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov in his bid to reclaim the promotions lightweight title.

Prior to his setback to the undefeated Russian, ‘Mystic Mac’ was coming off back-to-back wins over Eddie Alvarez and Nate Diaz respectively.

Tonight’s UFC 246 main event was a one-sided affair as McGregor came out of the gate swinging and eventually put ‘Cowboy’ down with a head kick. From there, the Irishman would unleash a plethora of ground and pound strikes before the referee stepped in to mercifully call a stop to the action.

Following the conclusion of this evening’s headliner, Donald Cerrone spoke to UFC commentator Joe Rogan in his post-fight interview.

Here is what ‘Cowboy’ had to say:

“Oh man he caught me with those elbows right away. Like destroyed the shit out of me and then head kicked me. What a great game plan he had man. Oh 100%, I had never seen anything like that. It threw me way off guard. He busted my nose and it started bleeding and then he stepped back and head kicked me. I was like oh man I got my ass kicked this early. I’m going to keep fighting man. I love this sport.”

The loss marked Donald Cerrone’s third in a row, after suffering TKO setbacks to Justin Gaethje and Tony Ferguson.
