Earlier this week, recent UFC welterweight title challenger Darren Till issued a few quick calls for a fight with former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion Conor McGregor. It is his hope, he explained, that the fight will happen at Anfield, a massive football stadium in his native Liverpool.

In a blog post penned for his sponsor PaddyPower, Darren Till elaborated on this callout of McGregor, listing a multitude of reasons why he and the Irish MMA superstar should fight at Anfield in then near future.

“Anfield has just confirmed the rights to have boxing and music events for the first time ever,” Till said in his post for PaddyPower. “I lost my last fight, Conor lost his. We’re both from Europe, he’s a Liverpool fan, I’m a Liverpool fan. I’ve spoken in the past about how I want to sell out a stadium in my home town. He spoke about Croke Park [in Dublin] but I think Croke Park will be for the final fight of his career, his retirement fight.

“He’s spoken about wanting to fight for the welterweight belt and I obviously want my rematch so if I fight Conor, then the winner could potentially get a shot at the belt after Colby [Covington] and Woodley fight or [Tyron] Woodley and [Kamaru] Usman fight,” he added. “I’m still the number two in the division. Conor has fought at 170 lbs before. Why couldn’t we get on? The two biggest stars in Europe, both experts in striking at one of the most iconic stadiums in the world.”

Darren Till then added that he believes he and Conor McGregor could easily sell-out Anfield— which can apparently hold north of 70,000 people — in seconds.

“The site crashed when I was fighting at the Echo [Arena in Liverpool],” he said. “It had 70,000 ticket requests. I’d sell it myself but with a powerhouse name like Conor, we’d sell that out in seconds.”
