Former UFC welterweight title challenger Darren Till is planning a move up to middleweight and has his eyes set on a fight with former 185-pound kingpin Anderson Silva.
Darren Till was expected to be the first man to welcome new welterweight signee Ben Askren to the UFC, but apparently the Liverpool native has other plans.
“The Gorilla” recently took to Twitter where he attempted to goad Anderson Silva into fighting him on March 16 in London, England.

“@SpiderAnderson just heard that shit you said, what the fuck you going on about trying to get a fight with @TheNotoriousMMA. Your not getting that fight ye baldy prick, I’ll fight ye in @ufc #London. Slap that baldy head off ye just like bisping did. #SamuelLJackson” – Darren Till
Anderson Silva is officially eligible to return to action as of today (November 10), this after serving a one-year suspension from USADA.
While Darren Till is obviously trying to goad Anderson Silva into a fight, “The Spider” seems adamant that he will wait for former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor, who is currently on temporary suspension from the NSAC.
“I’m waiting,” former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva recently told TMZ Sports. “Because I accept the challenge for Conor.”
The former middleweight kingpin continued:
“I think UFC President Dana White needs to think about this,” Silva said. “Because it’s two big guys in this sport. Two big names – yes, absolutely, two big legends. And, why not?”
Anderson Silva has not competed inside of the cage since UFC 208 in February of 2017, where he defeated Derek Brunson via unanimous decision.
Meanwhile, Darren Till was most recently seen in action at September’s UFC 228 event, where he suffered a second-round submission loss to reigning UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley.
