Tyson Fury shares plans for 2020 rematch with Deontay Wilder

Tyson Fury, Deontay Wilder

Last night, heavyweight boxing star Tyson Fury put on a show, pummeling the out-matched Tom Schwarz to a second-round knockout. Shortly after this victory, the Brit called for a rematch with WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder, who he battled to a controversial draw in December.

Fury plans to fight once more on October 5, possibly in New York, then rematch Wilder in 2020. He vowed to give an even better performance when he meets the American knockout artist for a second time.

“Deontay Wilder is coming,” he said (via the Guardian). “This fight is going to happen. There was three horses in the heavyweight division. And then there was two. And I already beat him once, so I’ll beat him again and again and again. And he ain’t gonna fight 50% Tyson Fury anymore. He’s gonna get a fully match-fit, back-active, back-sharp Tyson Fury.”

“It’s the biggest fight in world boxing, barring none,” Fury added. “Deontay Wilder, Tyson Fury, the rematch. It’s the biggest fight were going to see in the next few years. I don’t see anybody else coming up who can be as big. You’ve got two undefeated heavyweight champions, the lineal champion and the WBC champion, fighting in their prime. It doesn’t get any bigger.

“It’s heavyweight boxing and anything can happen at any given moment. But the way I box and my style, it think it’s Kryptonite for anybody. They’ve got to keep me down. Provided they don’t do that, then I’ll keep winning.”

It’s hard to argue with these comments from Tyson Fury. Given that Anthony Joshua was recently upset by Andy Ruiz, their rematch stands out as the biggest fight that can be made in heavyweight boxing at present.

Who do you think would win the rematch?
