Today marks “Iron” Mike Tyson’s 50th birthday.
At 20-years-old, Tyson won his first world heavyweight title and made a statement to everyone in the heavyweight division. Tyson would defend his heavyweight title nine times and became the first heavyweight in the world to simultaneously hold the WBC, WBA, and IBF titles.
Tyson retired in 2005 with a 50-6 record, with 44 of his wins coming by way of knockout. Tyson was known for his brutal knockout power and remains one of boxing’s most iconic characters.
